What is Dramatherapy ?

Dramatherapy is a form of Psychotherapy, a Creative Arts Therapy, which particularly utilises the techniques and craft of Drama. It can offer approaches which are creative, embodied and playful. This can be alongside and complimentary to talking. All individuals are unique and how this balance looks will be different for everyone. For some it enhances their direct, and conversational way of working, and for others the majority of the work may be indirect and creative. For many the breadth of its methods is its appeal. As with other forms of psychotherapy it places emphasis on the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client, or that occurring within group dynamics.

Who is Dramatherapy for ?
Dramatherapy can be beneficial to everybody. It works with the creativity and imagination which are a part of all of us, and allows us different ways to approach our feelings, thoughts and experiences. Its creative and non-direct approach means that it can be particularly helpful for children and vulnerable adults who may struggle to verbalise their experiences.
